International Training Program on Local and Urban Governance in Indonesia (for Afghanistan Delegations) - Network of Local Government Training and Research Institute in the Asia and Pacific (LOGOTRI)


This is a regional training program on decentralisation and governance for Afghanistan government officers funded by UNDP Afghanistan. The training program was held in 6 (seven) Asian countries: India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philipines under cooperation with the Network for Local Government Training and Research Institute in Asia and Pacific (LOGOTRI). URDI is active member of LOGOTRI since 2000. The purpose of this training program  is to enrich Afghanistan delegations with basic knowledge and understanding of Indonesian urban, local and development practices in different socio, economic and cultural. In addition this training will also develop leadership skills of the participants particularly in formulate programs in effective way and based upon local needs.

The training was organized jointly with United Nation Development Program (UNDP) Afghanistan and the Network of Local Government Training and Research Institutes in Asia and the Pacific (LOGOTRI). The Urban and Regional Development Institute (URDI) hosted the training in Indonesia. The training was held in Jakarta from 3-17 of May 2009. Some field study outside Jakarta were also included in the training to enrich participant’s knowledge and experiences. The participants of this training program is central and local government official of Afghanistan. It consists of 13 central and local government officials, one coordinator and one translator.
